INTRODUCTION
Hello Friends! For those of you that don’t know me let me give myself a quick introduction - I am a photographer and filmmaker living in the Western Mountains region of Maine. I was a raft guide, video kayaker and marketing guru for many outfitters on both the Kennebec River and West Branch of the Penobscot for over a decade before moving into freelancing in the photo and film world. I am intimately connected with the Katahdin region having lived and worked in the area for more than six years. Though the region is now only home when I pitch my tent, I still do work for several clients in the area on a regular basis. My work has been featured in Maine Office of Tourism campaigns, throughout the outdoor industry with major brands like LL Bean, Hyperlite and Old Town, just to name a few, and has helped to drive business across the state for outfitters like the New England Outdoor Center. I have also had the privilege of working with various members of Maine’s indigenous tribes through film projects and have a profound appreciation for the culture and heritage of the region.

APPROACH
Based on the list of content needs included in your RFP I would like to propose being available to cover the following -
Tekαkαpimək Contact Station and Surrounding Site
Educational Programming with the Friends’ youth program, Katahdin Learning Project and the NPS
Friends’ programming with adults
My recent work has included photographing facilities and activities (mostly youth programming) which is right in line with your needs. My approach is to act as a “fly on the wall” and embed myself with the group to capture the most organic imagery possible. My experience in documentary film as well as years as a guide and people person define the way I shoot. I’m especially good at connecting with people in a way that they behave comfortably around the camera.
Based on a project budget of $5,000 I can provide 3 full field days for photography + all photo editing. This includes travel and any necessary gear rentals. Friends of KWW will be responsible for providing scheduling suggestions based on group activities and coordinating with group leaders to ensure they are aware and prepared for photography participation. Licensing as requested in the RFP.

Let’s work together.
Why I’m a great fit for this project - simply put, the Katahdin Region is home. I may not live there now, but it’s a place that gives me a sense of peace like no other. I have paddled the Wassataquoik stream by whitewater kayak, I have portaged gear around Grand Pitch on the East Branch, I have photographed the moonrise over the Deasey Mountain Fire Lookout, I have landed in a float plane in front of Lunksoos, I have biked the loop road, and I have been exploring the area since before KWWNM was a reality. I am self sufficient and easily navigate the rigors of working in the Maine outdoors. I look forward to this opportunity and am happy to discuss this idea further. Thank you for your time and consideration,
